Robert Half Finance is looking for a Staff Accountant for a full-time opportunity with a rapidly growing company. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. You will lend your skills to developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will review schedules for the 10Q and 10K reporting processes, take part in SOX compliance, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This role is very integrated as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Washington, District of Columbia area, at a company where effort is rewarded. Your responsibilities - Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks - Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation - Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation - Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested - Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision - Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP - Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll - Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable - Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting - Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations - Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments - Participate in various department-wide initiatives - Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries
- Detailed and have the ability work independently - Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred - Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes - Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills - Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines - At least 2+ years of Accounting experience - General proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred - Expertise in bank reconciliations - Accounts payable experience - Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills - Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
