In this role, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for regulating an organization's accounting and finance procedures. To succeed in this Accounting Manager role with a burgeoning, innovative company, you will need to take charge of daily operations, such as preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, and related duties. If you are interested in this role, please call Shannon Edlinger at 248-205-5582 ext:48124 or email [Click Here to Email Your Resumé] Your responsibilities in this role: -Responsible for all general accounting functions including chart of accounts and G/L, financial statements, the billing process, cash receipts and accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, petty cash, bank reconciliation and accounts, client trust funds, benefit insurances, liability insurances, professional liability insurance, 401K, payroll. -Establishes and maintains appropriate internal controls to safeguard assets, to ensure proper accounting of transactions, and to promote operational efficiency within the Accounting Department. -Responsible for operation and maintenance of computerized accounting system (JURIS) including troubleshooting for users. -Distributes monthly financial statements with analysis for all entities. Performs cost center accounting, reporting separately for each cost center. -Calculates bi-monthly payroll, including benefit payroll deductions, and complex referral/bonus payments. -Monitors unbilled time and disbursements, time entry, and accounts receivable. -Coordinates annual audit of law firm's financial records. -Insures the maintenance of accounting retention files for required period of time. -Performs reconciliation of bank accounts and accounting variances and analysis. -Trust accounting for retainers, debtor payments, etc. There is a lot of activity here. -Provides cash flow reporting on a daily basis. -Performs or supervises credit card reconciliations of client expense charges. -Maintains Positive Pay for General account including daily check list reporting to bank and vigilance of exceptions. -Perform collection activity for receivables -Codes/approves all payables for proper GL account and proper cost center. -Enters payables into system, or supervises same. Performs check runs based on payment criteria (i.e. when client pays the bill). -Answers client and attorney requests for reports, etc.

Job Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience - 10+ years of recent relevant financial experience - Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred - Knowledge of MIS systems, software and applications - Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable - Excellent problem-solving skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
